Bagolie Friedman, New Jersey - USA Law Firm Tapped To Investigate Australian Lariam Claims Against US Drug Maker Hoffmann-La Roche As Hundreds of Australian Soldiers Suffer From Severe Psychiatric Problems

The New Jersey - USA Law Office of Bagolie Friedman is investigating the link between the controversial anti-malaria drug Lariam manufactured by Hoffmann-La Roche and the severe psychiatric problems suffered by hundreds of elite Australian soldiers.

(PRWEB) November 12, 2004 -- The New Jersey - USA Law Office of Bagolie Friedman is investigating the link between the controversial anti-malaria drug Lariam manufactured by Hoffmann-La Roche and the severe psychiatric problems suffered by hundreds of elite Australian soldiers.

Hundreds of Australian soldiers, many of them elite commando troops based in Townsville, were taking the anti-malaria drug Lariam while
serving in East Timor and have told how it turned them violent, paranoid and suicidal.    Lariam is a popular malaria prevention drug prescribed
to thousands of U.S. travelers and military personnel as well as soldiers in Australia and the UK. Lariam (generic name: mefloquine hydrochloride) has been linked to serious psychiatric side effects including suicide, aggression and long term mental problems. Here in the US, it has been the subject of an investigation by the US military, after two soldiers on the drug murdered their wives within weeks of returning home from the Middle East in 2002

Lawyer Ricky Bagolie has just returned from Australia where he met with Simon Harrison of Brisbane's Quinn and Scattini Solicitors, the
international affiliate of Jersey City New Jersey based Bagolie Friedman. The Brisbane law firm says it has been contacted by scores of
Australian soldiers concerned about the side effects of an alternative malaria drug given to troops who served in East Timor. "It appears from our initial investigation that Hoffmann-La Roche is negligent for manufacturing a drug they knew or should have known could cause depression, psychosis and suicide and failing to adequately test the drug to determine whether it had dangerous side effects. Our judgment is that Lariam is a dangerous drug, and Roche has resisted proper warnings and label changes" said Bagolie.

New Jersey's Bagolie Friedman and Brisbane Australia's Quinn and Scattini have shared a professional relationship for the past several
years and intend to work together to get justice for the victims of Lariam injury. "There is a mounting health problem within the Australian military caused by a drug company in New Jersey and we intend to hold them accountable right here in their own back yard." Bagolie says.
