Pop sensation Adam Barta will be performing at the new star showcase, SaSi Sundays, on November 14th at the Fez Time Café, 380 Lafayette St (Great Jones St.) in New York. This follows on the heels of a flurry of press surrounding two October performances during which at the end of the dance song Dirty Girls Barta ripped off the halter top of backup dancer Monifa Brown, revealing a large blue pastie. The stint, aimed at commenting on the same “wardrobe malfunction” that occurred during a Janet Jackson Superbowl halftime performance earlier this year, fits in with the theme of the song nicely. Barta has said he will retire the gimmick during the performance at Fez, so not to take away focus from his rising musical career. The SaSi variety show aims to showcase the new and rising musical talent in the New York area, and this month's scheduled artists include Barta, Brown, The Glamazons, Will Clark, Joie Starr, Beth-Anne Arentsen, Celia Shacklett and Scandelle. The producer, Stephen Schulman, has worked with clients such as RuPaul, Rosie Perez, and Margaret Cho and hopes to bring the talent in SaSi Sundays to the spotlight.

Adam is a Bronx native, who released his first single, I Told Her, this year on the VC2America Records label. Also notable for his film and television roles, he has co-starred with Latina superstar Tessie Santiago, Mario Cantone, Jeff Probst, Amy Sedaris, Amy Poehler, and others. I Told Her has been on the airwaves in the U.S. and Europe. Last year Adam appeared on the Britney Spears In The Zone TV special, released a music video featuring MTV’s Dorian Davis, and has been currently appearing around the NYC area, working on securing a full recording deal. He is currently working with The Verve Pipe’s Brian Van Der Ark on two new songs, including an official remix of I Told Her and a remake of Olivia Newton John’s dance classic, Physical.

Fez under Time Café is also home to Joan River’s one woman show every Wednesday throughout November and December as well as Brini Maxwell and others.
