Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 15, 2004 -- USA Teleservices, Inc. today announced the availability of an Internet browser that protects young children from online pedophiles and inappropriate content.

The Highland Ranch, Colo., company has been contracted to promote Smart Zone Kids(tm), a kid-safe web browser created by Childrens Educational Network of San Diego, Calif.

Advances in computer and Internet technology have allowed society to experience unimaginable heights in information and telecommunication. Unfortunately, it has also become an environment thats dangerous to children, leaving them vulnerable to Internet predators and mature subject matter.

Protecting children while they explore the Internet has become a major issue with law enforcement, including the FBI, which has even distributed a publication that helps inform parents about web safety.

These kinds of [Internet cases truly represent the most abhorrent crimes we see," said Jana Monroe, FBI Assistant Director, Cyber Division. We will continue to work aggressively ... to prosecute those who engage in the exploitation of our children."

Now, with Smart Zone Kids, parents can work just as aggressively to protect children.

The kid-safe browser allows children to safely discover the possibilities of the Internet, expanding their horizons and exposing them to different cultures and ways of life. Smart Zone Kids is controlled by parents, allowing them to assemble a safe, secure and educational Internet experience for their children.

The suite of applications offered by Smart Zone Kids includes child-safe web browsers, talking email, talking chat, and, in the future, talking instant messaging. Parents can program and edit an include list," allowing children to only have access to kid-safe websites.

Internet service providers like America Online have parental control technology, but Smart Zone Kids takes it a step further with desktop lockdown." This is Smart Zone Kidss most significant feature, allowing children to surf with closed community browsers. Other ISP parental controls allow children to minimize the browser, leaving them vulnerable to an unguarded Internet.

Other Smart Zone Kids features include:
1) Talking animated characters: These characters help guide, protect and entertain children while surfing the Internet.
2) Personal information filter: Prevents children from distributing personal information in chat rooms, such as names, phone numbers, addresses, etc.
3) Language filters: Typing profanity is blocked while the animated character politely asks the child to rewrite his or her message.
4) Parental notification: Parents are emailed anytime their child attempts to visit a questionable web site.
