Day Two, Earhart Excavation. Typically Tropical Tinian. "We just found bones," said Jim Sullivan, a founding member of the Tinian Earhart Expedition. "They might be cow bones for all we know," he cautioned.

The Tinian Earhart Expedition discovered yet another new road this morning and then found two soft spots in the dirt adjacent to it shortly thereafter.

Since Tinian is across the international dateline from the states or, as it's called locally, the 'mainland', it's currently nearly noon on Saturday, November 13 Tinian time while it is nearly 6 p.m. on Friday, November 12, Pacific Time.

The bones were discovered about 11:15 a.m. today, Saturday, in the newly-discovered soft dirt spot.

"We've been clearing roads," Sullivan said. "Then we found the two soft spots and began digging. We also relocated the tent."

It's currently raining lightly and misty at the site. The temperature is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, 26 degrees Celsius.

The best part, according to Sullivan, is how people are working together.

"The atmosphere here is very positive," he observed. "The best thing is how these college kids are getting valuable experience as they dig next to the likes of archeological greats like Dr. Tom King, Mike Fleming and Dr. Karin Burns."

This is the fourth of a series of three breaking stories.
