Pug Star Returns in New Holiday Book, "Homer for the Holidays" (Viking / Penguin)

Back by popular demand, Wilson the Pug, star of last year's surprise best-seller, THE TAO OF PUG (Viking Studio / Penguin) returns in a heartwarming holiday adventure story, HOMER FOR THE HOLIDAYS (Viking Studio / Penguin). The book has received celebrity accolades from the likes of Frank the Pug from the movie "Men in Black," as well as from the pugs of other celebrities, including Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, whose pug, Roxy, makes a cameo appearance in its pages.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 21, 2004 -- In anticipation of the holiday season, Viking Studio introduces Homer, the new pug on the block in Wilson the Pug's and Nancy Levines second collaboration HOMER FOR THE HOLIDAYS: The Further Adventures of WILSON THE PUG (Viking Studio; October 14, 2004; $19.95; 96 pages; ISBN: 0-670-03360-X).

Everyone knows co-author Wilson the Pug as the Taoist master who taught his many admirers--canine and otherwise--some important life lessons in last years hit The Tao of Pug (Viking Studio; 9/03). HOMER FOR THE HOLIDAYS charts Wilsons search for a good deed to do for the holidays, the right thing," as it is written in the Tao-te Ching, the ancient Chinese book of wisdom.

When he happens upon lost baby pug Homer, wide-eyed and snuffling his way through a lonely world, Wilson makes it his mission to find his new pal a home in time for the holidays. Perhaps he could borrow a home from a bank? Or perhaps Homer could try what Dorothy did to get back to Kansas and click his ruby slippered heels together three times? Dogged by a couple of unsavory characters who make big trouble for the puggly pair, the future starts to look bleak for Homer--until a chance meeting with Santa Claus himself turns everything around.

Featuring the same style of playful and clever photography that so enchanted dog lovers in The Tao of Pug, this charming pug adventure is sure to capture the hearts of many more fans of all ages in years to come.

As an advocate for animal welfare, Levine is the perfect person to bring the problems of puppy mills and animal homelessness to the attention of dog lovers across the nation. Sadly, not every abandoned puppy has a buddy like Wilson on their side to help them find a loving home. With HOMER FOR THE HOLIDAYS, Levine joins forces with The Humane Society of the United States to stop puppy mills through the mediums she knows best--photography and storytelling. Amidst Wilson the Pugs popularity and the growing visibility of and demand for pugs, HOMER FOR THE HOLIDAYS exposes the problem and proliferation of puppy mills and the animals they harm--an important message to remember especially during the holiday season when people impetuously buy puppies as gifts.
