QRS Diagnostic Begins Distributing its ECG Medical Device in Japan

QRS Enters the Worlds Second Largest Market for Medical Devices

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) November 17, 2004 -- QRS Diagnostic, leader in innovative design and development of software-based medical devices in computer cards, has started distributing its devices in Japan. With total annual sales of some $20 billion, including $5 billion in sales for American companies, Japan is the worlds second largest market for medical devices and the most important export destination for U.S. device companies," said Spencer Lien, chief executive officer, QRS. Entering the Japanese market is a significant step forward as QRS continues to grow our distribution channels and expand international sales."

With clearance from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, QRS began distribution on Monday with its first shipment of Universal ECG to distributors in Japan. Universal ECG is a software-based diagnostic electrocardiograph device that connects to computers via USB, PC Card and serial ports. It is designed primarily for use with handheld, laptop, tablet and desktop PCs. It is one in the complete line of QRS diagnostic devices that utilize the companys Office Medic software, which has been translated into Japanese. QRS distributors in Japan are also applying to the Japanese government for clearance to market all QRS computer card medical devices in 2005, including its devices for spirometry, pulse oximetry and blood pressure measurement.

The first of QRS two patents on the design of medical devices contained in computer cards, Patent No. 5,827,179 (approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on October 27, 1998), has been approved in Canada, Mexico, Australia and China. Approval is pending in Japan.
