For many years, the technology news has been dominated by products that don't deserve the kind of attention they get, simply because of the existence of hype generating machinery and a following that would do anything to get some attention.
In the mean time, superior shareware products don't get the attention they deserve, because there is no organized machinery in place to generate this type of attention, and because shareware companies are too professional to generate hype.
At the same time, the image of shareware was severely damaged because of companies that are not really part of the shareware community, but are often associated with shareware because they abuse the traditional shareware channels. Such companies usually distribute free software that includes spy-ware and the like, and make their free downloads available on web sites associated with the shareware industry.
Now is the time for an organized effort supported by the whole shareware industry to change this, give shareware products the attention they deserve, and repair the damaged image of shareware. The web site will contain the latest news from the shareware industry and other news relevant to shareware, as well as hosting blogs and providing space to everyone in the shareware industry to get their message through and to publicly discuss topics of interest.
