Blazing Saddles Legend to Host Classic Western Movies on GBN

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 19, 2004 -- Veteran film and television actor Burton Bubba" Gilliam has joined Gold Buckle Network (GBN) the premier Western lifestyle and programming network. Gilliam will host GBN's Classic Western movies, advise the company on program content and participate in promotional activities.

In Dallas for the 1973 film "Paper Moon," director Peter Bogdanovich discovered Gilliam and cast him as Floyd the desk clerk. Gilliams role in "Paper Moon" caught the attention of legendary writer, comedian, and actor Mel Brooks, who cast him in the 1974 classic "Blazing Saddles," transforming Gilliam into a cult hero. He has appeared in 42 films, including "Gator," "Hearts of the West," "Fletch," "Back to the Future III," "Honeymoon in Vegas" and "The Getaway" and remains a fan favorite just completing a co-starring role in the film Drop Dead Sexy.

With appearances in 190 television shows, Gilliams credits include "Alice," "Flo," "Dukes of Hazard," "Mamas Family," "Fall Guy," "A-Team," "Knight Rider," "Love American Style," "Best of the West," "Hail to the Chief," "Soap" and "The Jericho Mile." For three years he played the role of Virgil Mosely on the hit show "Evening Shade." Currently, he is producing and starring in the new sit-com "Out On Bail."

He is also a much sought-after motivational speaker, traveling the country relating his life experience as an example in setting goals. An avid golfer, he plays on the celebrity golf circuit, lending his name and efforts in support of many charitable causes, including The Burton Gilliam Celebrity Golf Classic, played in Pismo Beach, California since 1992.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas where he was a fireman for fourteen years prior to becoming an actor. Gilliam says his only claim to fame while living in Big D" was winning more Golden Gloves championships than anyone else in history. He and his wife Susan have two children and four grandchildren and all reside in the Dallas area.
