Transnet Wireless Corporation Helps Give New Meaning to “Convenience” Stores

A large group of convenience stores, travel plazas and truck stops will become even more convenient with a new deal by Transnet Wireless Corporation that will provide high-speed wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) to about 40 locations in the popular Southern chain, HuckÂ?s. The new deal punctuates the diverse need and extremely high demand for wireless Internet access.

“The convenience store market is a logical frontier for Wi-Fi coverage,” said Brad Cartwright, Transnet Wireless president. “As the demand for Wi-Fi increases, so increases the demand for its placement in a convenient forum. Huck’s innovative approach fits well with the Transnet Wireless’s Wi-Fi distribution model.”

Transnet Wireless is establishing a national network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots through an innovative private local distributorship program where the Hot Spot equipment is placed in locations at no cost to the location owner. The hardware, maintenance and monthly Internet connection fees are all paid for by the local distributor who profits from usage fees. A percentage of the revenues are also shared with the location.

The Huck’s group of stores – which operates under employee-owned parent company Martin & Bayley, Inc. – has more than 150 locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky, and practices business with a commitment to being a “Best In Class Convenience Store.” A major part of that philosophy includes constant innovation and change, something that the Transnet Wireless installation will further, said Todd Jenney, Huck’s Senior Vice President of Operations.

“Our business is definitely going in that direction,” Jenney said. “It’s just really convenient for the mobile society. Quite possibly we’ll see people in our stores who we wouldn’t have seen before because we’re offering that service.”

Transnet Wireless Corporation, a member of The National Business Opportunity Bureau, is the national leader in the distribution of Wi-Fi Hot Spot Internet kiosks. Transnet Wireless is a member of the Airpath Provider Alliance, the global standard for comprehensive Wi-Fi roaming, with 600 providers operating more than 3,500 hotspots and counting in more than 23 countries. Transnet Wireless is a privately held corporation headquartered in Plantation, Fla.
