Visionary Communications Merges with ColoradoDSL.com
Visionary Communications, Wyoming's largest ISP, has merged with ColoradoDSL.com, Colorado's broadband expert. The combined company will provide a broadband footprint in three states in the Rock Mountain region, serving more than 120 communities.
(PRWEB) November 21, 2004 -- Visionary Communications, the largest Internet Provider in Wyoming, has merged with ColoradoDSL.com, Colorado's broadband expert. The two companies have reached an agreement that provides a broadband footprint in more than 120 communities in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. The combined company will offer broadband services via DSL, Frame Relay, satellite, cable, and wireless technologies, and specialize in serving hard-to-reach areas.
The combined company has completed the first stage of a two stage rollout, installing a DSL aggregation network in Northern Colorado and the Western slope, serving 79 communities. The second phase of expansion will roll out services in Southern Colorado, providing service in another 21 communities, scheduled for a February, 2005 completion. ColoradoDSL.com will provide connectivity to the Visionary network at a retail and wholesale level through current relationships with 62 Internet Providers in the Rocky Mountains.
Tom Valaika, President of ColoradoDSL.com, said, "Visionary is the partner everyone wants. They are not particular what technology the end user winds up with, it is just important that the end user has the technology. The company is not afraid to partner with others to share a great network, and deliver rural broadband."
ColoradoDSL.com manages a broadband clearinghouse, available to end users, system integrators, agents, ISPs, WISPs, DLECs, and CLECs. The company has evolved from a broadband referral operation to a broadband solutions provider in hard-to-reach areas. ColoradoDSL.com has become a specialist in locating broadband for orphaned customers (internet users without broadband access), who are outside range of broadband services sold through telephone company or cable. ColoradoDSL.com will operate as a subsidiary to Visionary Communications.
Visionary Communications operates an ATM network that aggregates broadband access in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Visionary has spent the last year specializing in delivering DSL to customers who have been issued a false negative - the customer is told they can't get DSL when it can actually be delivered. The company states that more than 30% of customers being told they cannot get DSL can actually receive it, especially when contacting larger Internet Providers or web marketers.
"When 3 out of 10 end users are incorrectly informed they can't get DSL, that is a problem," stated Brian Worthen, President of Visionary and self-proclaimed Internet Jedi. "We've worked with ColoradoDSL.com for three years now, and have found a great match to fill a growing need - delivering broadband."
ColoradoDSL.com, through this merger, has the ability to provide access to the network, allowing rural Internet Providers and WISPs access to an even playing field. The company's network will also allow providers to cross state lines and LATAs which has been cost-prohibitive for many Internet Providers.
Worthen uses the example of communities in Qwest territories that have DSL, but no ATM service. A rural Internet Provider without access to ATM must pay mileage charges on a DSL aggregation circuit to the nearest ATM switch, costing more to provide DSL in their home town than another provider in the state that already has an ATM aggregation circuit. Because Visionary is providing an aggregation point, the rural Internet Providers have access to the same tools as providers in Metro areas.
ColoradoDSL.com is a clearinghouse for broadband services in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, and Wyoming, including DSL, T1, and wireless. The company has provided end users of broadband with a single source for service, often helping end users find a broadband provider when they have been denied service by another provider.
Visionary Communications is a pioneering privately-owned Internet Provider in the Rocky Mountain region, with services in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. The company deploys broadband services via DSL, Frame Relay, ATM, and wireless.
