My Jamaica Escapes Goes Green

Personalized luxury Jamaican tour company works with international and local activists to help rural communities manage environmental issues.

(PRWEB) November 21, 2004 -- My Jamaica Escapes (MJE) teams up with environmental groups for an ecologically responsible approach to tourism. While visiting natural resource dependent communities throughout Jamaica, the My Jamaica Escapes (MJE) team grew increasingly concerned with the shortsighted mismanagement of the environment in culturally rich sites and decided to take action.

MJE intends to further develop programs by hosting 'green consultants to help communities build and live in a sustainable way. By getting involved with local activists MJE hopes to inspire others involved in tourism to take drastic and creative measures to preserve Jamaicas natural resources.

The tour company was born out of the classic story of a customer who then became an entrepreneur. Imani Duncan, a former Miss Jamaica and Harvard graduate was eager to introduce whole learning experiences into the portfolio of Jamaican tourism. Creative breaks like the American Express Platinum Club at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah and the elegant simplicity of a yoga break in Thailand served as inspiration for the companys creators. The experience in Thailand was grounded in environmental integrity since there was minimal impact on the environment. Furthermore, Duncan explains that these vacations were culturally grounded in something so completely different from her own life, that she left a different person, a person rejuvenated through new experiences". Duncan is intent on sharing that feeling with others, hence the birth of a company that would take you to the very heart of her beloved Jamaica.

However, 'whole learning experiences certainly dont come cheap as MJE is Jamaicas only personalized luxury travel company and the most creative of the countrys tour operators. Each tour is individually customized for particular sensibilities, allowing you to be as active or as relaxed as you wish. Options range from an escape that allows you to arrive at your own private Eden by helicopter, indulge in Jamaican gourmet, swim in a serene lagoon or spend your time pondering the teachings of Rasta.

But perhaps one of the most attractive features of the company is their knowledgeable travel advisors, called Escape Artists. These Caribbean cool cultural virtuosos help you discover Jamaicas hidden treasures with a multitude of stimulating activities to make your journey a magical one. Escape Artists are always at your disposal to satisfy your needs and can arrange anything from a renowned chef to visit your villa to teach you the art of local cuisine, to a relaxing day on sailboat drifting across the tranquil Caribbean Sea.

My Jamaica Escapes also offer their clients the very best in exclusive accommodations throughout the island including a variety of elegant mountain and beachside villas, rustic cottages and high concept, beautifully designed hotels. Notable partners include Goldeneye, the Caves, Jakes, Strawberry Hill, Round Hill, Ritz Carlton, Tryall Club, Half Moon and Royal Plantation.

Every country tells a story, few as eloquently as Jamaica. Allow My Jamaica Escapes to open the book for you and turn the first page.
