FL Studio (formerly Fruityloops), Image-Line's all in one software production suite for PC, has moved up to version 5. FL Studio v5 now adds Time-Stretching in the Audio Tracks, the Slicer and the Sampler section. Based on the ZPlane Elastique time-stretching technology, FL Studio now offers tonal, drums, slices or resample time-stretching for any WAV or MP3 file.
"We felt that FL Studio needed an extra push in the area of Audio handling and recording", says Managing Director Frank Van Biesen. "FL Studio has been great music creation tool for many, but the feedback we received from our user base indicated we need to spend extra development time in this area. Therefore we added the long-awaited loop recording mode, audio automation clips and the support for MP3 files."
Three new FL Studio generators have been added to this version. Fruity Pad Controller (FPC) plugin, is a self-contained multi-layered/multi-velocity drum machine plugin. WaveShaper plugin, is a wave distortion effect which maps input to output values using flexible spline-based graph. VideoPlayer plugin, allows synchronized playback of video & flash content inside FL Studio.
Smaller changes are improvements on existing plugins such as Sytrus, Fruity Slicer, Granulizer and DrumSynth Live and new features like Tempo Tapping (beat per minute detection) and support for slice markers.
FL Studio v5 is now also available in the XXL Box edition. This XXL edition is a bundle of FL Studio's main flagship, the FL Studio Producer edition together with a set of extra plugins and generators.
FL Studio will come in 4 different editions:
