Sandman Records Gives Sweet Dream To Spina Bifida Association

Children's record label, Sandman Records, donates to the Spina Bifida Association.

(PRWEB) November 25, 2004 -- Lanny Sherwin, President of Sandman Records in Santa Barbara, CA, has donated $1,500 to the Spina Bifida Association of America as part of the childrens music labels ongoing commitment to the prevention of birth defects.

Since were in the dream business," Sherwin said, were proud to join the Spina Bifida Association of America in helping to achieve their very realistic dream of reducing the numbers of people afflicted with this disabling birth defect. We will continue to donate a percentage of sales from our flagship lullaby CD, 'Dream With Me Tonight – Lullabies For All Ages' – to the SBAA.

Spina Bifida is the number one permanently disabling birth defect in the US. There are about 70,000 people in the US living with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect (NTD) and occurs when the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) does not form properly during the early stages of pregnancy.

Sixty million women are at risk of having a child born with Spina Bifida, and each year approximately 3,000 pregnancies in this country are affected by Spina Bifida.

In addition to making the financial contribution to the SBAA, each copy of the multi-award-winning CD carries information about the importance of taking folic acid. If all women of childbearing age were to consume 0.4 mg of folic acid prior to becoming pregnant and throughout the first trimester of pregnancy, the incidence of Spina Bifida could be reduced by up to 70%.

Cindy Brownstein, CEO of SBAA, said Not only has Dream With Me Tonight brought joy to children throughout America, the CD has brought smiles to the faces of all those who cope with the challenges of Spina Bifida thanks to Lannys generous contribution."

Sandman Records has carved out a special niche in the world of childrens music by living up to its credo: Dont drive parents crazy!" The company has garnered 14 childrens music awards, and its 'Dream With Me Tonight' lullaby series is carried in all Borders stores, Baby Depots, as well as in childrens stores nationwide.
