Aries, an international manufacturer of standard, programmed and custom interconnection products, has announced the development of a new Correct-A-Chip adapter which enables the use of Atmel ATV5000 and Cypress CY7C342B 68-pin PLCC packages with boards designed for the now obsolete pin grid array packages, without board redesign or rework. The new adapter features 68 PGA pins on the bottom and either solder pads (part number 68-7747-10) or a 68-pin PLCC socket (68-7747-12) on the top.
The new adapters feature a patented pin technology which enables the construction of highly compact and cost-efficient pins. Unlike other adapters, the limited depth pins are staked into the body and soldered Male pins are brass alloy 360 with 200 uÂ tin over 100 uÂ minimum nickel per QQ-N-290. The body of the adapters is .062Â thick glass filled FR-406 high-performance epoxy laminate with a glass transition temperature of 170Â°C. The body features one ounce copper traces and is UL94V-0 rated.
On special order Aries can furnish its new adapters with the actual PLCC devices - such as Cypress CY7C342B, Atmel ATV5000 or other 68-pin PLCC devices - soldered to the adapters. The devices can be supplied by the customer or by Aries.
Pricing for a Correct-A-Chip 68-7747-10 in quantities of 50 is $25.00. Delivery is 2 weeks ARO.
