Atlanta Artist Anthony Liggins Transcends from Fashion Success to Art Success

Contemporary artist Anthony Liggins is being represented in different shows and publications throughout the world. He is experiencing much success in the art world, as he did in the fashion industry.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 25, 2004 -- Contemporary artist Anthony Liggins celebrates a successful year in his art career and he anticipates an even bigger 2005. Based in Atlanta, Liggins is well-known for his prosperous ten year career in fashion, designing blouses that graced the bodies of Halle Berry, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Ellen De Generes, to name a few. What many people dont know is that I was actually drawing figures and illustrations before I started designing fashion," explains Liggins. Applying the same creativity that fueled his fashion sense into his paintings, Liggins abstract art possesses a dream-like simplicity with vibrant colors, yet is very in depth as it undergoes an intricate seven layer process. November 26 marks the opening of Liggins new solo exhibition, 1000 Kisses from Shanghai," at the Las Olas Art Center (www.lasolasartcenter.com) in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, which will be on display until December 29, 2004. Recent exhibitions during 2004 also include Sacred Language" at Gallery Sklo in Atlanta, GA, Ab-Straction" Group Show at Tilford Art Group Gallery in Los Angeles, CA, and the Latin Jazz: La Combinación Perefecta" Smithsonian Traveling Group Show in various cities across America. Furthermore, Liggins work was featured on the cover of the Atlanta Journal Constitution Arts & Books section for his monumental, outdoor sculptures displayed at the Lindbergh City Center, MARTA Transportation System Headquarters. Erica Simone Turnipseed mentions Liggins in her new novel A Love Noire (page 100), which was given a nod of approval by People Magazine. In addition, Liggins art is covering the walls of Restaurant Eugene- Atlanta, Delta Crown Room- Ft. Lauderdale International Airport, and even in the homes of actress Angela Basset and legendary Chef Roy Yamaguchi.

Not only does Liggins share his art with collectors, he also uses his art to help those less fortunate. He recently donated a painting to an auction raising money to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and also donated to the Georgia Center for Children helping to prevent child abuse. Liggins believes that giving back to the community is an important part of his life.

Liggins is looking forward to making tremendous strides in the new year. He is honored to be selected by the International Scientific Committee as one of the artists to represent the United States at the Biennale Internazionale Dell 'Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy in 2005. Additionally, the Latin Jazz: La Combinación Perefecta" Smithsonian Traveling Group Show is continuing to show works by Liggins at the Museo Americano- The Alameda (San Antonio, TX), Louisiana State Museum (New Orleans, LA), and California African American Museum (Los Angeles, CA) through January 2006.
