Celebrated Sports Photographer Hy Money in New Photo Campaign to Hear from Anyone Who Can See Themselves in a 1973 Photo of a Crowd at Crystal Palace
1973 photograph by Hy Money at Selhurst Park - man recognised in photo in a Brighton newspaper promoting an exhibition of Hy Money photographs at Wealden House, Centre for Wellness, Culture and Arts, East Grinstead. Can you recognise yourself or anyone else in the photograph?
(PRWEB) November 28, 2004 -- Man recognised in a 1973 photo of crowd at Crystal Palace, by Hy Money during exhibition at Wealden House, East Grinstead. Campaign launched to find more people in this photo. Were you there?
One of the photographs in Hy Money's recent exhibition at the spendid Wealden House, Centre for Wellness, Culture and Arts, has stirred some memories. This photo - a shot of a section of the crowd at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park - appeared in a Brighton newspaper during the course of the exhibition. One of the readers of the paper recognised someone in the crowd and sent it to them - namely, a Mr Robin Stanley of Lindley Road, Walton on Thames -- who confirmed it really was him in the photo all those years ago. Robin is in the centre of the photo wearing a shirt, tie and duffle coat.
Encouraged by this finding, John Wood, the spokesman for Wealden House, is determined to locate those still living in the photo. They will then be invited to a rendezvous celebration at Wealden House in the New Year when Hy will take another photo of all those attending.
"Do you recognize yourself or anyone else in this photo? If you do, please let us know!" says John Wood.
Hy Money was the UK's first female sports photographer and one time official photographer for Crystal Palace. She will shortly be bringing out her book of photographs next year to celebrate Crystal Palace's centenary.
