In what has become a tradition, this weekend The Ludacris Foundation distributed Thanksgiving dinners with all the trimmings-turkey, fresh vegetables, canned goods and desserts-to residents of College Park Housing Authoritys College View Hills. The Ludacris Foundation along with Rah Rahs Village of Hope, distributed holiday food boxes to over 300 low-income families.
This is the foundations third year distributing Thanksgiving food boxes in Atlanta. In fact, Ludacris is no stranger to public service. Prior to establishing The Ludacris Foundation, Ludacris participated in the Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry Campaign, supported the Genesis Prevention Coalition, The Fox Theater Foundation, numerous fundraisers, food and clothing drives. Serving young people in the communities that he holds dear is important to the artist. "You've got to give back to the community, Ludacris says. "I know I've got the ears of young people and they need to know about the importance of getting an education, the importance of setting goals and reaching your dreams."
College View Hills youth aged 9-17 were also given the opportunity to participate in an essay contest based on the The Ludacris Foundations Principles of Success." A special, reception was held for the participants where they were treated to a live dj, entertainment from 10 year old kid-hopster "n-nocent," a lavish thanksgiving spread, and recognition for their participation in the essay contest.
Ludacris deserves to be recognized for his service as a role model by being involved in numerous national and local charitable activities, in addition to his support of the citizens of College Park," said Mayor Jack P. Longino, who was on hand to present the artist with a proclamation.
The Ludacris Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization established in 2001 to sustain Ludacris commitment to make a difference in the lives of youth. The Foundations programs and outreach efforts reach youth of all ages across the country.
