British Columbia's largest environmental network selects a new Coordinator.
Vancouver, B.C (PRWEB) November 30, 2004 -- The BC Environmental Network (BCEN), B.C.s largest environmental network with eight caucuses and the new Sustainable Business Network, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Howard Breen as its new Coordinator.
The BCEN, founded in 1981, fosters collaborative environmental networking to further environmental protection and restoration throughout B.C. The BCEN is affiliated with the Canadian Environmental Network and its sister organizations across Canada.
We are excited that we have Howard coming on board. He brings with him a diverse set of skills and a wealth of experiences that will enrich the organization tremendously as we forge into a new era in the environmental movement," said BCEN board chair Jeffrey Paleczny. Having a strong Coordinator is invaluable as the organization moves to more efficient operations that embrace the information era and help provide effective networking solutions to BCEN members, associates and the public."
Breen has a thirty-year history working for social and environmental justice here in Canada and elsewhere. He has a particularly strong background working on marine and aquatic protection as former Marine Habitat Program Coordinator of the Georgia Strait Alliance and Marine Specialist and Corporate Accountability Analyst for the Oceans Blue Foundation.
The BCEN provides B.C. conservationists, a forum to collaborate and network information and ideas on local, provincial and national affairs. It also assists in connecting the public, government, First Nations, unions and industry to member resources and the issues we face today." said Paleczny. This appointment helps us to move forward with coordinated projects which enhance and support BCEN priorities and member services."
I look forward to the challenge and honour of working with an organization that plays such a strategic role in helping to empower the environmental movement, and the public to work towards positive solutions for environmental issues," said Breen.
The BC environmental movement has grown and is attracting highly talented and dedicated people such as Howard. This is good for us, and its good for the movement," said Paleczny. We look forward to working closely with him and the rest of the network as we embrace new paradigms of environmental awareness and activity well into the future."
