New Magazine, "The Deli," Serves Up the New York City Music Scene; Launch Party to Be Held at Sin-e on December 2nd; Music Feast, NYC Indie Band 5-CD Pack, on Sale for Holiday Purchasing

"The Deli," a new magazine focused on the New York City music scene, will launch on December 2nd. It will focus on the underground rock, pop and folk bands that fill the citys bars, clubs and concert venues as well as the studios, producers, promoters, equipment retailers and manufacturers who help bring the NYC indie sound to the wider public.

New York City, NY (PRWEB) November 24, 2004 -- A new magazine focused on the New York City music scene will be launching on December 2nd. The Deli will focus on the underground rock, pop and folk bands that fill the citys bars, clubs and concert venues as well as the studios, producers, promoters, equipment retailers and manufacturers who help bring the NYC indie sound to the wider public. The first magazine of its kind focused wholly on New York City, The Deli will be made available free of charge at music-oriented locations across the city.

The brainchild of Editor-in-Chief Paolo De Gregorio, The Deli provides news and in-depth interviews with local bands, analyses of where the scene is headed, CD and equipment reviews and features, as well as classified advertising space for bands, studios, and others.

When I came to New York a few years ago, it seemed to me that something was missing. There were newspapers and magazines that had music sections, but no one publication dedicated to the local scene or to the growing wave of small studio and home recording. With The Delis offerings, I hope to fill that gap and provide an intelligent, informed and artful resource for musicians, their fans and the businesses supporting musicians here in the city," said Paolo.

In New York City there are more than 150 venues, with each one hosting an average of three performances a night. That works out to more than 10,000 shows every month – mostly featuring local bands. As such, the value of a local music dedicated magazine should not be underestimated," said Ed Gross, Assistant Editor.

The December 2004 issue features an in-depth article on home recording by Bruce Kaphan, a freelance engineer/producer/composer who also specializes in pedal steel guitar and has appeared or recorded with American Music Club, David Byrne, Jewel, Sheryl Crow, R.E.M., John Lee Hooker and The Black Crowes, among others. This issue also contains articles and interviews focusing on bands such as The Caulfield Sisters and Grizzly Bear, reviews of 20 plus new CDs by local artists, and equipment reviews by local producers.

The Deli launch party will be held on December 2nd at Sin-e (150 Attorney Street), beginning at 6:30 pm. A veritable chefs salad of bands will be served up from the folk, pop and rock worlds including Sandpaper, Codachrome, Grizzly Bear, and Rockethouse. There will be drink specials all night long and other surprises. General admission is $10 for 21 and over.

Several of the bands playing at the launch party have had their CDs packaged by The Deli into a hearty compilation entitled music feast. Available from The Deli direct and at stores such as Other Music and Beacons Closet, the collection features The Caulfield Sisters, Codachrome, Grizzly Bear, Mixel Pixel and Spiderfrau.
