Temperature Probe Installation Success Rate Increases Two Fold
Luxtron Corporation reports dramatically improved installation success rates for power transformers with their WTS ruggedized probes and new probe installation kit.
(PRWEB) December 2, 2004 -- Luxtron Corporation, the leading provider of field-proven hot spot monitoring solutions for the power utility industry, reports dramatically improved installation success rates for power transformers with their WTS ruggedized probes and new probe installation kit. Today, installation success rates regularly surpass 95% and transformer manufactures have begun to accumulate a net savings.
The improved installation success rate is attributed to the WTS Ruggedized Fluoroptic® probes, first released in 1998 and installation experienced by transformer manufacturers. Previously, twice the number of probes required was regularly installed to compensate for expected installation problems, costing both extra time and money. To further simplify WTS Ruggedized Fluoroptic® Probe installation, Luxtron has released a WTS Probe Installation Kit, consisting of GORE-TEX® material and easy to follow instructions. This kit facilitates correct installation of the fiber optic probe within the transformer winding by the manufacturer and is suitable for use with all Luxtron rugged fiber optic probes used with WTS and ThermAsset® winding temperature measurement systems.
Luxtrons rugged Fluoroptic® fiber optic probes enable direct, real time, accurate measurement of transformer winding temperature; thereby providing valuable input to calibrate thermal models and enable dynamic load control. Unlike conventional winding temperature indicators that infer" the hot spot by measuring top or bottom oil temperature, the drift-free, calibration-free nature inherent in the Fluoroptic® technology makes these systems ideally suited for use in transformers.
