LiberalForum.org Announces the Official Launch of Liberality.org
LiberalForum.org proudly announces the official launch of Liberality.org. Liberality.org will focus on Liberal and Progressive commentary and grassroots campaigns.
(PRWEB) December 5, 2004 -- LiberalForum.orgs new vehicle for liberal and progressive web journalism and grassroots advocacy, Liberality.org (http://www.Liberality.org), officially launches today. Last month, Liberality.org announced its pre-launch. Since then Liberality.org has built a fair amount of content, and scores of people have contacted the site to wish the site well, and/or to volunteer as a writer or web activist.
Liberality promises to make a difference through web activism. In fact, the site has already assembled an impressive group of web volunteers, and has created a Media Watch Task Force though the National Alliance of Liberal Professionals and Organizations (NALPO). We chose to launch this site officially during the first week in December due to its historical significance with regard to civil rights," says attorney Steven C. Rangel the sites founder.
Fifty-eight years ago on this day, Harry Truman, our 33rd President of the United States, signed a groundbreaking Executive Order (#9808) that created the Presidents Committee on Civil Rights (PCCR). The PPCR aimed at protecting the civil rights of all Americans. Liberality.org salutes Truman for this historic undertaking, and, of course, embraces the efforts of pioneering presidents such as Lincoln, Roosevelt and Kennedy.
Also this week, Rosa Parks, known as the "The mother of the civil rights movement," challenged Montgomery, Alabamas racial segregation laws by refusing to give up her seat on a city bus to a white man. This single act of civil disobedience had a dramatic effect on Americas civil rights movement.
Rangel notes while we celebrate our launch during this important week in history, Liberality.org will reserve September 14th –the day President Kennedy delivered his eloquent speech on what it means to be a Liberal –as the sites special day of observance."
