Confronting Steroids With Awareness and Education
Steroid symposium informs coaches, athletes, and parents about the effects and risks of steroids
(PRWEB) December 6, 2004 -- Steroids continue to play a negative role in athletics at all levels-from the high school athlete to the professional leagues. Unfortunately, very few educational programs have been developed to combat and prevent steroid use.
Therefore, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) will hold a steroid awareness and education symposium as part of their Sport-Specific Training Conference that focuses on football and baseball training. This seminar was developed at the request of the Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society (PBSCCS).
Steroid information is often inaccurate," said Tim Maxey, President of the PBSCCS. This symposium will provide factually based information from experts in the field. The strength coach will find it invaluable."
This in-depth, four-hour symposium will focus on several key areas. The attendee will learn about the following topics: history of use, ethical and legal implications, medical issues and risks, methods of use, and consulting and combating steroid use. The symposium will be open to the public and will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2005. 1:00 -- 5:00pm at Kentucky International Convention Center, Louisville, Kentucky. Registration must be made in advance. The cost is $100.
