Chief Dental Office Snubs EU Dentists

A recruitment event organised to recruit EU dentists to Britain has been snubbed by the Chief Dental officer

(PRWEB) December 8, 2004 -- a dental recruitment event organised by MnM with a view to attract EU dentists to the NHS was snubbed by the CDO. The event took place in London Gatwick Hilton last week, with an overwhelming registration of 230 dentists with an overall attendance of 150. The majority of delegates, 93% caming from within the 25 EU member states, and the remaining from other countries as far afield as India, Turkey, Jordan, and many other places. In short: DRD was a great success which manage to reach so many EU dentists in such a short notice. These dentists are ready to come to live and work in the UK and salvage the NHS current dental crisis.

DrD2004, was a unique opportunity for the Public and Private sector to recruit new dentists and meet the contributors,as well as members of the press. It also gave the opportunity for some to catch up with old friends, whilst mobilising new dentists to serve the appaling British desperate community.

While the varies official organisations directly responsible for the dentistry system in this country go about criticising the NHS and the government for the chronic shortage of dentists, MnM decided to utilise a completely different positive and constructive appraoch by organising such event. MnM is fortunate to be working with the respectable members of the industry by organising positive initiatives like the DrD UK 2004 which shows true evidence that there are immediate solutions to current crisis.

Should the organisations concerned be more transparently committed to the efforts being made the government (by allocating millions of pounds unecessary one can conclude) through the Secretary of State for health Dr John Reid, there would be no need for such crisis as we currently facing!. Unfortunately one can only conclude that the office of Mr John Reid is not aware of the personal agendas of the CDO. Again, correspondence in this regard has been addressed to the office of the Secretary of State for perusal.

DrD event brought serious professionals and organisations together to discuss British recruitment issues. The event was supported by prominent members of the dental community who, like MnM, share their concern for the shortage of NHS dentists in the country due to the unconsidered conduct of a few.

One can also note that the situation here is not about the government proposals to reform NHS dentistry but about those entrusted with delivering the governments' promise. Contrary to some organisations with direct responsibility for this crisis, MnM organised a recruitment event which has received overwhelming support from the EU industry, with many attendees offering to start work with immediate effect. DrD only proves the fact that should the bodies repsonsible for sorting the current mess had any genuine interest, the NHS would not be in the position that it is now.

One can also ask: "Why is the CDO spending all its time on recruiting dentists from India when there are enough dentists in the EU readilly available to satisfy UK demand with immediate effect?". Discriminating EU workers over Indian workers is what will spring to everyone's mind, since CDO in charge is focused in india first and foremost.

This simple event, demonstrates not only that there is no need for the current shortage of dentists, nor that there is any need to run to far and away countries like india when the EU has enough human resources to satisfy current demand. One can also conclude that there is no need for the millions of pounds being wasted irresponsibly.

Clearly, one would assume that the CDO is discriminating the labour force readily available in EU member states in favour of Indian dentists. The fact that the CDO favours India more than any other country is clear evidence of positive discrimination by the CDO.

MnM would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Dental Practitioners Association for the warm remarks and much valued contribution to DRD. We would like to extend a warm thank you to many others including the Associate Dean of Cardiff University, for promoting job opportunities in Wales. As result of CU presence and speaking on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government, over 53 candidates registered with MnM and directly with CU their wish to relocate to Wales to work as dentists. We would like to thank the Welsh Assembly Government, for supporting the MnM initiative and providing us with a huge list of current vacancies available throughout Wales as described by the Associate Dean of Cardiff University.

The DRD initiative is a small testament of MnMs strong belief, and evidence that organisations like MnM are far better positioned to cooperate with the NHS to sort the current concerns on the dentistry, thus saving the Department of Health millions of pounds while achieving the much needed results.

European dentists are truly highly skilled professionals, leaders in dentistry service provision, and able to tackle this crisis head on! They undertake the urgent task and can act faster because they benefit from their EU status which gives them faster integration into UK dental service provision.

This year's recruitment event has set the bar high. However, there is always room for improvement and we have received helpful feedback that MnM plans to incorporate in our plans for next year (if you didn't get a chance to fill out a conference feedback survey form, you may do so online: www.drd2004.co.uk recruitment conference survey).

MnM hopes to see even more of you in 2005 for a bigger, better 2nd DRD-UK Recruitment event!

From the hosts, MnM would especially like to send the warmest thank you to each and every attendee for being our guest. It was an honour to work with you, and MnM sincerely hopes that you enjoyed the recruitment day and that you are now looking forward to your first challenge in the United Kingdom.

We also hope that you had the opportunity to take a quick break and enjoy a traditional cup of tea in our beautiful capital, London.

Thank you,
