GEARS Newly Patented Technology Supports Better Fundamental Stock Picks

Global Equity Analytics & Research Service LLC (GEARS), an independent stock market research company founded in 1997 by Robert Gay, announces the award of US Patent #6,792,145 Pattern Recognition Process for Text Document Interpretation."

(PRWEB) December 8, 2004 --Global Equity Analytics & Research Service LLC (GEARS), an independent stock market research company founded in 1997 by Robert Gay, announces the award of US Patent #6,792,145 Pattern Recognition Process for Text Document Interpretation." This patent award is for computer software used to extract financial information from internet documents which was co-invented by Gay and GEARS partners Joseph Moore and Glenn Atkinson. GEARS maintains a computerized financial accounting data base of over 3,000 US companies going back to 1994. The data powers the GEARS fundamental company research product currently utilized by professional investors.

This innovative software acts as an intelligent time-series search engine--analyzing and interpreting the behavior of a serial stream of electronic documents. This is distinct from the more common cross-sectional search engines that analyze the total population of documents at each point in time.

GEARS employs its technology to extract financial information from the serial stream of corporate documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This enables GEARS to create proprietary company information much faster and more accurately than the conventional manual methods of financial information gathering. This broadens the scope of GEARS financial analysis. Faster access to better quality financial information provides GEARS clients with a valuable edge in making investment decisions.

This new GEARS technology learns" from its historical experience. The artificial intelligence component of the technology provides faster and more sophisticated search and analysis as the number of serially presented documents increases.

Our document interpretation technology allows us to jump from source document to detailed investment conclusion, eliminating the manual information gathering and interpretation function usually performed by teams of financial analysts. This makes our conclusions fast, accurate, unbiased and usually profitable for our clients," says co-inventor Robert Gay.
