Frederick Entertainer to Appear in British Dark Comedy

Rob Sevin is a clairvoyant, and despite the dark comedy in his future, things look very bright for this entertainer. Rob has been cast in “Magic Dwight,” a British short film that is being nominated for the Cannes Film Festival. The film also stars Paul Daniels, a noted British magician, and actress Debbie McGee, Daniel’s wife. Eleanor Wilson, the film’s writer and director,said, “Although alluring and captivating, Rob has a subtle and understated performance technique that is essential in front of the camera lens. I think it is fantastic that Rob is going to be involved in this project – hopefully something that will go down as a piece of history in the world of magic.”

“Magic Dwight” is the story of a young maladroit 8-year old boy whose ambitious father, Reginald, is determined to turn into a successful child magician. Following a grueling training program, the night of the big show arrives, with results that don’t quite correspond with Reginald’s plan.

Wilson was so excited about having Rob Sevin in the picture that she re-wrote the part to suit him. His character is an American talent agent who represents everything that Dwight’s father aspires to – glamour, success and sophistication. All attributes easily well suited to Rob Sevin. Although this is Rob’s first acting role, he is a veteran entertainer, performing in a variety of venues in the Washington, DC metropolitan area including dinner theater, private parties and corporate events. Presented with an air of mystery, Rob’s style of entertainment draws the audience into the performance as they become part of the magical experience. “Magic Dwight” is 12 minutes in length, and will open in London in December 2004, with distribution by the Short Film Bureau, Brit Films. A US schedule has not yet been determined, but it is expected that the film will be shown in and around the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
