EMP 5.5 Enterprise Anti-spam Filter Empowers End-users While Reducing Administration Costs

Server based Anti-spam Filter protects Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino and Novell GroupWise, from spam, viruses, exploits, fraud and phishing.

(PRWEB) December 7, 2004 -- EMP enjoys a leading position in server side anti-spam, since its initial release in 1999. Much of this success is due to its fundamental filtering paradigm, which leverages contextual patterns to identify illicit email content (spam). Pattern technology has been found to be superior in correctly identifying illicit content, particularly where the sender has obfuscated the keywords most current scanners depend upon for spam detection.

With the new release of EMP 5.5 on December 1st 2004, J.A. Korsmeyer has again raised the bar for server side email security. By providing individual users with the capability to maintain their own white lists and message quarantine, administrative workload is significantly reduced. Individual users regain a sense of control over which email they wish to receive, without having to interact with IT staff on a regular basis. Additional benefits include extremely low false positives.

EMP is endorsed by tier-one mail server vendors; Microsoft, IBM/Lotus and Novell. It is operating system independent and deployed around the world, protecting a diverse array of mail server products, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise and UNIX Sendmail.

EMP utilizes a comprehensive multi-tiered approach to identify illicit content, while offering the lowest false-positive rate possible, identification tiers include:
•   Delivery attempts from Trojan infected Windows computers and known criminal spam gangs.
•   Message envelope, header and body heuristics.
•   CP2 second-generation pattern recognition.
•   Three forms of white listing (content pattern, global sender, and recipient defined sender).
•   Multiple evolving proprietary techniques.

Features new 5.5 features include:
•   myEMP personal quarantined message processing and white list management.
•   Content driven message rejection at the SMTP port (per filter option).
•   Mark as spam with confidence level, but pass message (per filter option).
•   Enhanced spam recognition patterns.
•   Performance enhancements for high message volume deployments.
