Pyramid Design to Co-Develop Spacecraft Simulator for Hongyu Space Technology, Chinese Academy of Space Technology Subsidiary

Pyramid Design will create a spacecraft simulation system for Hongyu Space Technology. They will use the completed system to produce a commercial product that simulates the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft, the first crewed spacecraft of the People's Republic of China.

Egg Harbor Township, NJ December 9, 2004 -- Pyramid Design announced the development of an open-ended simulation engine that can be used to produce many types of simulators for launch vehicles and spacecraft. A-OK! can be implemented in desktop applications, kiosks, and full-motion simulators.

Multiple Products
The development of the A-OK! Spacecraft Simulation System
will produce several products. Hongyu Space Technology will use the completed system to produce a commercial product that simulates the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft, the first crewed spacecraft of the People's Republic of China.

Pyramid Design will initially provide a simulation of all the Mercury spacecraft and launch vehicles, which is a more versatile version of the current A-OK! product. It will allow users to create additional simulated launch vehicles and spacecraft.

Versions of the Shenzhou 5 simulator will be made available for both Windows and Macintosh.

Beyond The Desktop
Pyramid Design will offer special licensing for the A-OK!
Spacecraft Simulation System to allow its use in commercial applications such as museum kiosks and amusement simulator rides. Pyramid Design will also offer consultation and design assistance to firms interested in producing commercial simulation projects with A-OK!.

"This is where A-OK! goes beyond any space-related simulation, commercial or shareware, that is out there now" states Joe Nastasi, president of Pyramid Design. "A museum can have kiosks that allow visitors to build a rocket from a simple interface, then follow the 3D flight in real-time. After the simulation, the kiosk can print out a report on the flight for the visitor to take home. Imagine the same museum now offering a desktop version of the same kiosk in their store. It allows the visitor to experience the exhibit at home and is a great income opportunity for the museum."

Modular Design
The driving philosophy behind the A-OK! Spacecraft Simulation
System architecture is flexibility. It is designed to be modular on multiple levels so that the system can be configured as a single-spacecraft simulator, a multiple-spacecraft simulator, or as a driver for hardware-based simulations like immersive amusement rides.

A-OK! Spacecraft Simulation System is made with REALbasic, from REAL Software, Inc. http://www.realsoftware.com.

About AOK!
AOK! Is a cross-platform engine for developing world-class space simulators for use in commercial and consumer environments, including kiosks, museums, and amusement park simulation rides.
