Imprintink.com Owner Leads Team in National Design Contest
Project Manager Ilona Meagher - owner of the new media design and development firm imprintink.com - is leading a group of 6 community college students to design a complimentary website for Art Corporation, a non-profit organization. The website has been accepted for submission into the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) National Web Design Contest.
Caledonia, IL (PRWEB) December 8, 2004 -- Ilona Meagher, owner of the Rockford, IL-area new media design and development business, imprintink.com, realizes that more and more organizations are tightening their belts these days. They find it hard to rationalize the expense of web design services - no matter how necessary it might be for them to have an online presence. Non-profit organizations are especially hard hit. The lost opportunity puts them at a distinct disadvantage: more and more people use the Internet as their sole form of research, and theyre not reaching this audience.
A group of six students, lead by Ms. Meagher, are working to change this for one lucky local non-profit organization. The team, currently enrolled in Web Information Technology classes at Rock Valley College and working under the name of Rock Valley Design, has entered the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) National Web Design Contest. They will plan, design, and implement a complimentary website from scratch for Art Corporation (more commonly known by its artist members as the 'Art Coop). Formed in March 2003, they had been exploring the possibility of gaining an online presence for much of the past year with little success.
Art Corporation Director, Jeanne Coe, says:
We at Art Coop believe that artwork is immensely important to our shared community. We work hard to bring artists and buyers together for mutual benefit. Weve also shared our pieces with the community through artwork donations to Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes, Klehm Arboretum, and the Rockford Symphony - to name only a few. Through the generosity of these students, were excited to finally have the chance to bring our message and mission to a much broader online audience, perfectly coinciding with our excitement at having given our community their very first coffee table book, Art Rockford, showcasing over 100 professional local artists. Reaching out to the online community will be a great plus for us. We are so excited as well as proud to be a part of this!"
Ilona Meagher, the teams Project Manager, explains:
When we heard of this project and contest idea, we immediately embraced it. Not only for the experience, not only for the chance to show off our work in a national contest, but the chance to help Art Corporation fulfill their dream of getting on the World Wide Web is what excites us the most. We cant wait to have their website up and running for them! Theyve donated to our community so much themselves, it only seems fitting that they should be on the receiving end every now-and-then, too."
