In 1998 Steelcase purchased Clestra Hauserman, a leading manufacturer of architectural moveable walls. During 2001 Shawn Gaffney, then VP of Operations, completed the task of relocating the wall business to a facility in Canada.
Recognizing the consolidation taking place in the wall industry and understanding the engineer to order nature of architectural walls, Gaffney began developing a business plan for an independent architectural wall company. Utilizing his fifteen years experience and the extensive product knowledge of industry experts, Wallace Wright Ph.D. and Steve Kitko, Infinium designed, engineered and began production of its i4 architectural wall product line in January 2004.
According to the company the Infinium i4 product has been well received and Infinium as a company has completed several projects in Cleveland and New York City.
"I spent minimal time worrying about the office fronts, which is contrary to my past experience with other manufacturers. I was most impressed by their attention to detail and the fact that they were on site from beginning to end often the last to leave," said Bill Reynolds of Stamack, the General Contractor for the Weils, Gotshal & Manges project located at 555 Madison Avenue, New York, NY. "Their preparedness and coordination with other trades made the entire project go very smoothly.
