Retired Show Dane Needs A Home
Beautiful retired show dog abandoned and in need of a loving home.
(PRWEB) December 12, 2004 -- The life of a show dog is often glamorous and filled with exciting activity and travel. Groomed for success from the time they are born they are the cream of the crop, much admired, and often members of loving families. What happens to these beauties as age takes its toll? While many live out their years with caring families, retirement is not always luxurious for former champions of the ring.
Cio-cio-san (pronounced Co Co Sun), named for the lead role in the famous opera Madame Butterfly, is a retired champion Great Dane who toured the show circuits in the Southwest as well as in Mexico. She is looking for a new family to call her own, one where she will be admired not only for her outer beauty, but also for her lovely spirit. Look down her long graying muzzle to the twinkle in Suns caramel eyes. There is a lot of love and life left in Suns heart. To the MAGDRL volunteers that care for her she is six years young.
The North Carolina Chapter of the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League (MAGDRL) is looking for a great family to overlook Suns age and realize what a wonderful addition an older dog can be. When you open your home to older dogs you experience the joy of companionship without the sometimes exhausting tasks involved in the raising of a young pup. Sun gets along well with both male and female dogs, and with children over the age of 8. At present we do not know how she is with cats. She is housetrained, cratetrained, and walks well on a leash. This sweet senior Dane needs a loving, secure permanent home and family. Could it be yours? If your heart says yes, please visit our website at www.ncdanerescue.com to see pictures of Cio-Cio-San. About MAGDRL
Our organization works very hard to help abandoned, neglected, and abused Great Danes find the loving homes they deserve," said Becky Moser, the Coordinator for the North Carolina chapter of MAGDRL.
Before MAGDRL takes a Dane into rescue, volunteers evaluate the dog in its current residence or at the shelter to determine their temperament. Along with any medical evaluation or treatment the Danes receive at the shelter, we work to obtain copies of vet records from the previous owners. MAGDRL has a network of dedicated volunteers all across North Carolina who serve as foster homes for our rescued Danes. Our foster families take care of getting medical treatment for the Danes if needed, socializing them with people and animals, and teaching the Dane basic house manners along with basic obedience commands in order to ensure a positive adoption experience for the adopters and the Dane.
MAGDRL is a non-profit 501© (3) group of volunteers who have, for more than twenty years, rescued abused, abandoned, lost and unwanted Great Danes. We spay/neuter and provide the medical treatment necessary to return the Dane to good health. MAGDRL also provides training and socialization to ensure their adaptability to new homes. We work to place rescued Danes with people who will provide secure, loving and healthy homes. On average we have 70-75 dogs in temporary foster homes and kennels.
