According to Bob Reno, publisher of BadJocks.com, the award is given out annually to the person involved in athletics who does the most to damage the reputation of their sport with a single act of stupidity." Past winners of the coveted award have included the parents and coaches of disgraced Little League pitcher Danny Almonte who allowed the 14-year-old to pitch in the under 12 league; and just last year a Texas high school cheerleader received the award for shooting a rival from another school in the behind with a paint ball gun.
Added Reno, People assume it will be a big name athlete, or a story that has received the most media attention, but thats not the case. We like to look for the strange and obscure stories that few people have heard about."
