BadJocks.com to Announce Winner of 2004 "Bad Jock of the Year Award" on December 17

The Internet's top sports/crime website, BadJocks.com, will announce the winner of the Fourth Annual "Bad Jock of the Year" Award at its website on December 17.

(PRWEB) December 12, 2004 -- Its been a good year for bad athletes. From the wardrobe malfunction" at the Super Bowl to shocking revelations about steroids in Major League Baseball, in 2004 the sporting world was very good at being very bad. On December 17, 2004 the best of the worst will be honored when the Internets top sports/crime website, BadJocks.com, unveils its "Bad Jock of the Year Award."

According to Bob Reno, publisher of BadJocks.com, the award is given out annually to the person involved in athletics who does the most to damage the reputation of their sport with a single act of stupidity." Past winners of the coveted award have included the parents and coaches of disgraced Little League pitcher Danny Almonte who allowed the 14-year-old to pitch in the under 12 league; and just last year a Texas high school cheerleader received the award for shooting a rival from another school in the behind with a paint ball gun.

Added Reno, People assume it will be a big name athlete, or a story that has received the most media attention, but thats not the case. We like to look for the strange and obscure stories that few people have heard about."

BadJocks.com was started in February of 2000 and in the past few years has become the dominant source for sports crime reporting on the Internet. Approximately 6000 unique visitors per day visit the site, which prominently features a scoreboard at the top of the page with categories such as High School Coach Sex Scandals (223 so far in 2004) Naughty Cheerleaders (11) Streakers & Naked People (43) and Youth Sports Embezzlers (10).

In addition to naming the Bad Jock of the Year, BadJocks.com will also list its Top Ten Stories of 2004, the High School Coach Sex Scandal of the Year and many other minor awards. BadJocks.com is updated daily with stories ranging from the professional ranks to angry Little League parents and everything in between. Another popular feature is the unique BAC Rankings, which chronicles the biggest boozers in sports and ranks them according to their reported blood alcohol concentrations at time of arrest. Unlike the BCS, theres no controversy over whos Number 1 on this list.
