Size Matters, Too," says Size-Diversity Expert

Veronica Cook-Euells message is simple, size is the other diversity, the one everybody ignores. We tackle the 'Elephant in the Office that everyone usually wants to hide." Cook-Euell is in her third season of broadcasting that message weekly via Ohio radio station WCRS and her website, http://sizematterstoo.com.

(PRWEB) December 12, 2004 -- Veronica Cook-Euell is a woman with a mission. An expert in size diversity issues, Cook-Euell calls size, the other diversity."

We tackle the 'Elephant in the Office that everyone usually wants to hide," Cook-Euell. We tackle the tough topics most people choose to ignore. For example, we address complicated issues of size in the workplace; accommodations; the office diet, and the hostile work environment these may cause. The goal of Size Matters, Too is to increase awareness of issues important to people of size and the persons they work with, live with, are friends with, and socialize with."

Even the term people of size" is new to most people. Like other visible differences, Cook-Euell asserts that size is used as a basis for pre-judging people without considering other factors. Size and body image play an important role in both how one is perceived by others and in how one perceives the world," she explains.

More specifically, we advocate that size and body image are universally relative to all cultures, races, genders, class, religions, ages, etcetera," states Cook-Euell. The bulk of our work is focused on including size as more than simply a condition of which society must avoid, ignore, seek to transform, resist, struggle, and contend. Size itself should not be viewed as a social problem but is instead as a legitimate dimension of diversity that merits a full body of interdisciplinary scholarship and research."

Cook-Euell has a background that includes over 20 years with the federal government and service as a cabinet member in the position of Executive Director, Affirmative Action for the City of Toledo, Ohio. Cook-Euell holds a Masters Degree in Psychology, Diversity Management Specialization from Cleveland State University and is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Global Career Development Facilitator Certification. Her recently published article, Size--The Other Diversity, can be found on the cover of the August 2004 issue of MOSAICS, Society of Human Resource Management's Diversity Newsletter.

Size Matters, Too is in its third season of production. We cover topics in a wide range of issues faced by people of size," says Cook-Euell. Our guests have included professionals in the size movement, activists, authors, teachers, scholars, writers, speakers, psychologists and sociologists."

Each weeks show can be listened to free of charge 24 hours a day 7 days a week with online/on demand airing at http://sizematterstoo.com. The website also has helpful information for anyone interested in understanding size diversity. Cook-Euell is also available for training, workshops, retreats, and boardroom presentations. A list of workshops can be found on her website or Cook-Euell will design one specifically for your needs.

This weeks show will discuss travel and accessibility issues with sociologist, Dr. Pattie Thomas, who is co-creator of the website, The Ample Traveler (http://theampletraveler.com).

The Size Matters Radio Show is recorded and aired at WCRS Radio a Written Communications Radio Service for the blind-Dave Binkley, Producer.
