AIRlok Expands North American Distribution

Lok Technology, manufacturer of AIRlok integrated network management appliances for wireless and fixed wire networks, today announced that it has signed distribution agreements with two leading distributors of wireless technology. WAV Inc., a Chicago-based value-added distributor of wireless technology, and Electro-Comm Distributing, Inc., a Denver-based value-added distributor of solutions for wireless, fixed, broadband and WiFi network infrastructure have become the first nationwide distributors of the complete range of AIRlok integrated network management appliances.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2004 -- AIRlok by Lok Technology is a single integrated, turnkey network provisioning appliance for cost-effective wireless and fixed wire network deployments for Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs), enterprises, and carriers. AIRlok features include integrated AAA, bandwidth shaping, security (IPS,VPN,...), filtering, caching, billing and all the features a network administrator needs to provision and protect their networks. AIRlok can be deployed as a single solution for managing small networks serving a few dozen people to large community networks serving millions or AIRlok can be deployed within existing networks to improve performance and security.

WAV and Electro-Comm are two of the largest companies in North America that distribute a complete range of access points and other wireless network gear needed to build and operate WLANs. By connecting access points to broadband through the AIRlok appliance the system is complete and ready to operate as a standalone hotspot business or an extension to an existing corporate network.

We are absolutely delighted to include AIRlok in our portfolio," Says Norm Dumbroff, President of WAV, Inc. Every day our customers ask us for back-end WiFi hotspot and WLAN management capabilities and until now we have had to point them in many directions, putting the burden of infrastructure design, procurement, installation, integration, support and maintenance on our customers. Now, with AIRlok, it really is one-stop-shopping-greatly reducing the cost and complexity of wireless network deployments. AIRlok is very complimentary to our current offerings"

WAV and Electro-Comm are two of the premier value added distributors in the wireless networking channel. Their resellers and solution providers look to them for guidance, leads and industry knowledge. We are fortunate to have such prestigious distribution partners," says Simon Lok, founder and Chief Scientist of Lok Technology. Through our lead generation efforts we get hundreds of calls asking us to help them decide what access points, backhaul methods and bandwidth they should acquire to go along with AIRlok. Through our relationship with WAV and Electro-Comm, we now have partners that can not only answer their questions, but also provide our customers with all of the necessary equipment and solidify the position of AIRlok as a WISP-in-a-Box appliance. We are excited about the opportunity to better serve end users through this relationship."

AIRlok was launched in 2004 and already has over 100 deployments worldwide with customers like American Airlines, Digital Sail, House of Blues and WiFi-NY. The AIRlok replaces the need for network managers to purchase and integrate multiple appliances such as firewalls, routers and authentication service by combining all functions needed to manage wireless and fixed line voice and data network into a single, easier to manage server with superior security. By integrating these functions into a single appliance, Lok Technology estimates that it cuts the cost of building and operating a network by as much as 80 percent. A typical network deployment for a mid-sized enterprise or network operator can require as many as 8 different pieces of equipment and cost in excess of $120,000. An AIRlok solution for the same application can cost under $20,000 and take a fraction of the time to install and manage.

"When the AIRlok product was first demonstrated to us I was amazed. How can one small box do all of that?" comments Mike Brownson, President of Electro-Comm. It combines all the functionality our clients have been asking for in a simple-to-install and manage package. And it goes way beyond what has been requested for network security features. The AIRlok product should save our customers a great deal of time and frustration, and greatly reduce network outages. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with our clients by being a true one-stop shop for all their wireless needs."

The AIRlok 300 is designed for plug-and-play hotspot deployments and costs less than $3000. AIRlok 500 series are designed for enterprises needing improved management and security for their voice and data networks. AIRlok 700 series can support carrier-class networks serving up to a million subscribers for large enterprise and community network applications. Both WAV and Electro-Comm currently have AIRloks in stock and have begun filling orders from their resellers.
