Optelec Introduces Auto Focus Telescope System for the Visually Impaired

Optelec introduces AutoView. An auto focus telescope system, providing near, intermediate and distance magnification for those suffering from central vision loss.

Chelmsford, MA (PRWEB) December 20, 2004 -- Optelec USA, Inc. announced today the introduction of the AutoViewTM, an auto focus Keplerian telescopic system, developed to aid the visually impaired see near, intermediate and distant objects. This latest product offering complements Optelecs flagship ClearView video magnifier line, providing visual assistance to individuals with low vision for many social, leisure, and work/school type activities.

Designed for individuals suffering from central vision loss, AutoView provides the user with continuous auto focus magnification from 12" to infinity. When objects are viewed at near distances, for activities such as reading or writing, the unit provides 4.7 times magnification. When viewing objects at intermediate or far distances, the unit provides 3.5 times magnification. The bright, wide field of view, 16.4 degrees, is nearly 30% greater than any comparable product available on the market. In addition, AutoView merges both active and passive auto focus technology, ensuring exceptional clarity and brightness, regardless of the image viewed, or environmental lighting conditions.

Many individuals living with low vision are forced to use several products to assist them with just one or two different activities. Purchased through an eye car professional, the AutoView optical unit is mounted on an eye-glass frame, and adjusted to correct for the patients refractive error. Standard units offer an adjustment range of -10.0D to +7.0D. Once properly fitted, the unit and the individual is ready to go. With 8 hours of continuous use per charge, AutoView is the perfect solution for such activities as travel, watching television, movie or sports, viewing a blackboard or work presentation, reading and writing simultaneously, recognizing faces, and playing cards or games.
