(PRWEB) December 18, 2004 -- callas software GmbH, Berlin, and SoftCare Software-Service GmbH, Hamburg, have formed a strategic alliance to make magazine production more efficient. The alliance comprises the integration of MadeToPrint and MadeToPrint InDesign Auto from callas software into the K4 Publishing System from SoftCare. MadeToPrint InDesign Auto has already been fully integrated into SoftCare's publishing system and will be bundled with K4 free of charge as a special introductory offer valid until the end of June 2005.

MadeToPrint InDesign Auto automatically processes InDesign files and carries out functions like printing, EPS output, PDF creation as well as preflighting and packaging open InDesign documents. Jobs are triggered in K4 by means of meta data and job tickets in XML format. After document processing on a MadeToPrint Auto server, the result is sent back to K4, including any error messages. This way, K4 users can see whether a job was processed successfully directly in InDesign.

MadeToPrint InDesign Auto will be bundled with K4 free of charge until June 2005. "callas' long-time experience within the magazine production area as well as its first-class PDF expertise offer our customers a competitive edge" explains Andreas Schrader, Managing director of SoftCare. "With the bundling campaign we want to demonstrate to our customers how they can make the best use of productive factors in editorial departments and extend them into the print production stage."

Regarding the objectives of the partnership, Olaf Druemmer, Managing director of callas software, says: "To us, K4 represents the leader of new technologies in the field of modern publishing systems. With already more than 60 installations worldwide, it has a solid installed base, which is growing briskly. The partnership with SoftCare creates the essential market base for further innovations such as PDF-based repro processes between editorial houses and media service providers. SoftCare has proven how trend-setting innovations can be implemented solidly into editorial production."

The next joint step will be the integration of MadeToPrint InDesign and Adobe InCopy CS into K4 client workstations as additional options for K4 customers who want to increase their productivity in the editorial department.
