San Gabriel High School 70's Class Reunion
It's the official SGHS 70's reunion. All graduating classes. In 2005 so it's right in the middle of everyone's 30 yr celebration. Whatever SGHS class you're from, please join us Saturday February 12, 2005.
(PRWEB) December 19, 2004 -- This will be at least the 4th time that SGHS allumnus Craig Lemke, formerly the SGHS school mascot, has arranged and hosted these successful, combined reunions. They are an absolute blast. Here are three pages of photos from the last couple of reunions - http://www.SGHSreunion.com
The very first one, hastily thrown together on a Thursday and met the following Saturday, had an impromteau guest compliment of just six alumni. That was in 2003. It was so much fun that Craig then hosted the January 2004 reunion, depicted in the photos. That reunion had 23 people. Then the April 2004 reunion had 40+ people. This time Craig has even more lead time an has contacts from dozens of people of various classes to help spread the word.
The format is simple. Former SGHS classmates meet at The Northwoods Inn, Rosemead Blvd and Huntington Dr, in the huge bar/lounge Saturday, February 12th, at 3pm. "That part is probably the most shocking" says Lemke. "We see each other and wonder - is that who I think it is? Once we get over how beautiful the girls still are and how bald us guys are then we indulge in the 'what have you been doing for 30 years' conversations".
So everyone gets (re)acquainted, has a drink or lunch or whatever they want, all dutch. Then at 7pm, the former classmates take the short trip to Lake Ave in Altadena, a 5 min drive, to the well known music and comedy venue, The Coffee Gallery Backstage. There, Craig Lemke performs in concert for everyone. Craig sings, plays his incredible fingerstyle guitar and does his standup comedy routine and brings in another great musician to share the show with. This year the guest artist is popular and seasoned LA area singer/songwriter Harriet Schock. "This part of the evening is where I get to perform for YOU ...as I spent most of my high school years doing" says Lemke. Details on the concert at - http://www.lumpymusic.com
Then the fun continues as the Matador alumni go BACK to the Northwoods Inn and close the place down. "Now that we've all had a couple hours together we're a little more comfortable with each other. We tell more stories and reveal a little more secrets like - You know, I always liked you in school but was too shy to let you know", says Lemke.
True to form for this hopeless romantic, Craig Lemke actually found his dream girl, Donna Browne, class of 74, that way. Donna and Craig always liked each other in HS but were afraid to tell each other. After graduating from San Gabriel High School, they went their separate ways and got married/divorced (to others) a couple of times. Then in 2001, re-met via the internet. Lemke and Browne wrote to each other and fell (back) in love. They've been living and loving together in Phoenix ever since.
"I for one, find it incredibly helpful to my brain to find all those people that made me what I am today" says Lemke. "I have this incredible urge to find them all and tell themall thanks!".
