Children and rowing are two of my greatest passions in life and this book allows me to unite the two," said Theresa Gang, author of My Mommy Rows. During this time, when it seems like an oxymoron to use sports and role models together, My Mommy Rows reinforces the fact that parents can be role models in sports as well as life."
Told through the eyes of a child, My Mommy Rows explains the sport of rowing; from the discipline and hard work required for training, to definitions of keywords related to the sport and the fun, friendships and rewards rowers experience.
"Whether or not rowing is one of your passions, I think you will find this is a book that is well worth sharing with your children," said Kelly McGlynn, merchandise manager for US Rowing. My Mommy Rows offers a basic education on rowing and the fundamental joys of sports. Most importantly, My Mommy Rows reminds us that parents are role models"
About The Author -- Theresa Gang
You have to be crazy to row. That's what I thought when I first saw my sister row in college at a regatta in the pouring rain. When I returned to Buffalo from college, she suggested I try this (insane) sport so we could row together.
I started at West Side Rowing Club in 1996 with the Adult Learn to Row program. I moved into the Women's Recreational Team and eventually to the Women's Intermediate team by the summer of 1999. I also married the love of my life Bill and started a family. I remained with the team through winter practices until I was 7 &1/2 months pregnant and could no longer tie my shoes.
Within 3 weeks after my first child, Sydney, was born, I was back at practice. Before she was 5-months old, my team and I won the gold for the 500-meter Dash at the Royal Canadian Henley. In 2002, my second child, Camryn was born. I have continued my love for rowing and my girls, trying to balance both.
Many times I wished I discovered this sport in high school, and I want more children to be exposed to the world of rowing. Amidst diapers, sippy cups, and the chaos of motherhood, I find my solace in rowing.

Like many things in my life, I dont know if I chose rowing or if rowing chose me. I started to row in college, but up until that time I had only heard of the sport. I didnt know how to sit in the boat, how to fit the oars into the oarlocks, or what an erg was, but I learned quickly and rowing soon became one of the many passions in my life.
I spent the next four years at the University of Cincinnati earning my degree in Product Design, working in the studio 'til all hours only to be dragged out of bed by my lovely roommates.
Upon graduation, I moved to Buffalo, NY where I began working at Fisher-Price. I soon felt the need to find my way back to the water and joined the West Side Rowing Club. There, I met Theresa and a new, rambunctious crew of women who have taught me much about rowing and life.
