Cookin' Up a Storm in Osceola

KUA Community Grill Feeds 20,000 in 2004

KISSIMMEE, FL (PRWEB) December 22, 2004 -- Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne may be a distant memory, but Osceola County nonprofit groups continue cooking up a storm, thanks to a community grill provided by Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA).

KUA introduced the community grill in 2002. The trailer-mounted cooker is made of stainless steel for easy clean up. The grill features 40-square feet of cooking area powered by two 40-pound propane tanks that provide faster start-up time, fast cool-down time and precise temperature control. The cooker also has a 35-gallon water tank and collapsible stainless steel counters for added convenience.

In 2004, KUA's grill was used by two dozen nonprofit organizations, schools and churches who served meals to a combined total of 14,900 individuals. In addition, the cooker was used to prepare over 5,000 meals for KUA and out-of-state line workers involved in post-hurricane power restoration efforts in August and September.

The grill is available free of charge to nonprofit groups for events located inside KUA's 85-square-mile service territory in Osceola County. KUA will provide groups with a short training course on grill operation as well as complimentary propane and delivery/pickup of the cooker.

Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties. Visit www.kua.com for more information.
