Angels Earn Their Wings: Sierra Pointe Residents Participate in Holiday Angel Tree Program

Special angels will earn their wings this holiday season as Sierra Pointe retirement community in Scottsdale kicks off its 6th Annual Holiday Angel Tree Program. The program gives residents a chance to help the less fortunate by fulfilling a holiday gift request made by someone in need.

(PRWEB) December 23, 2004 -- A few special angels will earn their wings this holiday season as Sierra Pointe retirement community in Scottsdale kicks off its 6th Annual Holiday Angel Tree Program.

Since 1999, Sierra Pointe residents have helped the less fortunate experience the magic of the holiday season by participating in the communitys Holiday Angel Tree Program.

The program gives residents a chance to personalize a gift for someone in need by adopting one or more angel bells and purchasing the anonymous recipients gift request.

This years holiday tree, located in the communitys Activity Center, is covered with holiday bells that reveal some deserving persons name, age, gender and gift request, or some familys special holiday need.

Requested items range from necessities such as a toothbrush or shampoo to special gifts such as a rocking chair or a warm throw. Residents are permitted to donate items beyond those requested or to team up to give more expensive gifts. Gift certificates are also accepted. All gifts are returned to the tree wrapped and labeled with the original bell.

This years Angel Tree will benefit three local charities, including Chrysalis, Jewish Family and Childrens Services, and the Young Womens Christian Association (YWCA) seniors. These deserving charitable organizations will distribute the gifts to needy individuals and families.

The important thing about this program is people who wouldnt receive gifts this year will," says Sierra Pointe Marketing Representative Patricia Hyland, and thats what keeps us going."

Initiated six years ago, Sierra Pointes holiday gift-giving program began a tradition of sharing that continues today. Each year, the communitys Holiday Angel Tree Program continues to grow and expand as residents demonstrate the true spirit of giving. If a bell rings this holiday season, look skyward. It might be another Sierra Pointe angel earning his or her wings.
