PGA Merchandise Show Tickets to be Given Away at History Center Exhibit Opening

Winner to Receive Two VIP Entries to Trade-Only Show

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) December 27, 2004 -- January 20, 2005, marks the opening of an exciting new exhibit at The Orange County Regional History Center. The Florida Swing: Golf in the Sunshine State, presented by The Ginn Company, will be over 3,000-sq.-ft. and has been developed in association with the Professional Golfers Association (PGA).

Interested parties wishing to purchase their tickets to see the new exhibit by January 19th will be entered in a special drawing to win a pair of exclusive tickets to the PGA Merchandise Show, the golf industrys premier trade show, which will be held at the Orange County Convention Center January 27 --30. For advance ticket sales, call (407) 836-8500. The winner will be chosen at the opening event, which will be held at The History Center on Thursday, January 20 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. *Winner does not need to be present to win.

The PGA Merchandise Show is not open to the public, so this is a great opportunity for the winner to attend the golf industrys leading trade show which is, in fact, one of the largest trade shows in the county," said Shanon Larimer, spokesman.

Additionally, people that purchase their tickets prior to the grand opening event will also be automatically entered in for a chance to win two-nights deluxe accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes and two rounds of golf at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. The winner of this sweepstakes will be selected at the conclusion of the exhibits run on April 10.

The Florida Swing: Golf in the Sunshine State will feature original artifacts and research from the vast collections of the PGA Historical Center at PGA Village near Port St. Lucie.

This exciting exhibit will feature a number of intriguing components. The Expansion of the Railroad and the Development of Resorts will trace the parallel development of golf, resorts, tourism and the railroad throughout the state. The PGA of America, Merchandising and the Growth of Golf in Popular Culture will showcase the history and evolution of golf equipment, fashions and traditions. Great Golf Courses of Florida will highlight the history of famous courses located throughout the state, including the five Florida golf courses also listed in America's top 100. Golf Organizations in Florida will focus on Florida as the home of major golf associations, including the PGA, the LPGA, and the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The exhibit opening, featuring NBC golf commentator and former PGA Tour professional Bob Murphy and USGA President Fred Ridley, is free for members and $10 for non-members. Space is limited; reservations are required by Wednesday, January 19th and may be made by calling (407) 836-8500.

The History Center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday-Saturday) and from noon to 5 p.m. (Sunday). General admission is $7, students with a valid student ID and seniors (60+) are $6.50 and children ages 3-12 are $3.50. Historical Society members and children under the age of 3 are free. Visitors receive two hours of FREE covered parking at the Orlando Public Library with paid admission (not valid for special events).
