Broomfield, CO (PRWEB) December 24, 2004 -- MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that the Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities) in Colorado has opted to simultaneously deploy multiple licenses of MWH Soft's premier InfoWater Suite software to drive its comprehensive water facilities master plan. The move further reinforces MWH Soft's market-leading position in advanced GIS-based infrastructure modeling and management solutions in North America.
The Colorado Springs Utilities is a community-owned water, wastewater, natural gas and electric utility serving a population of approximately 370,000. The Springs Utilities water service area covers 205 square miles, comprising 47 pressure zones. It includes six water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 232 million gallons per day, 1,800 miles of water mains, over 50,000 valves, 20,000 hydrants, 28 storage tanks, and 25 reservoirs. Nearly 75% of the Springs Utilities water comes from snowmelt high in the Rocky Mountains. The utility provides drinking water to Colorado Springs, Green Mountain Falls, Chipita Park, Fort Carson, the United States Air Force Academy and Peterson Air Force Base.
Springs Utilities will harness the power of InfoWater and ArcGIS (ESRI, Redlands, CA) to continue setting tighter standards within the organization to facilitate better decision-making and more economical operations. Other progressive utilities in Colorado using MWH Soft technology include Aurora, Boulder, Clifton Water District, Consolidated Mutual Water Company, Town of Crested Butte, Denver Water, Durango, Fort Collins Water Utilities, Fort Collins-Loveland Water District, Fountain, Fountain Sanitation District, Greeley, Longmont, Loveland Water and Power, Montezuma Water Company, Mt. Crested Butte Water and Sanitation District, NorthGlenn, Pueblo Board of Water Works, South Fort Collins Sanitation District, Steamboat Springs, Thornton, Westminster, and Woodmoor Water and Sanitation District.
Unlike competing products, the innovative network modeling technology of the MWH Soft geospatial software suite addresses every facet of utility infrastructure management, optimization and protection - delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. Built atop ArcGIS, InfoWater Suite seamlessly integrates advanced water distribution network hydraulic, water quality and optimization functionality with the latest generation of the industry-leading GIS technology.
The suite effortlessly reads GIS datasets; corrects network topology problems and data flaws; extracts pertinent modeling information; and automatically constructs, skeletonizes, loads, calibrates and generates optimized solutions with astounding speed. The result is performance modeling that sets new levels of scalability, reliability, functionality and flexibility within the powerful ArcGIS environment, completely eliminating the need for inefficient, unreliable data synchronization and synching schemes or middle link interfaces required by other software. Using these advanced tools, water utilities can easily simulate and evaluate various operating conditions, pinpoint system deficiencies, and determine the most cost-effective improvements to achieve optimum performance and regulatory compliance, and meet new security challenges.
"With escalating pressure to deliver high quality water, ensure system integrity and reliability, improve system operations and performance, and implement effective security measures with limited resources, selecting modeling software that delivers real and sustainable results has become critical," said J. Erick Heath, P.E., Vice President of Sales and Client Relations at MWH Soft. "Colorado Springs Utilities joins a rapidly growing list of progressive organizations standardizing on MWH Soft InfoWater software. We consider this a tremendous testament to our technology. We are proud to offer a proven, reliable, high-value solution that is easy to implement and use and delivers a superior business advantage."
"As the trend shifts towards geoengineering technology, MWH Soft stands out as the only company to offer a comprehensive, fully integrated, true ArcGIS-centric modeling solution - one that enables water utilities to efficiently and cost-effectively manage, maintain and utilize geospatial information using hallmark flow, pressure, energy and quality analysis and optimization tools," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "We are pleased that a visionary, leading organization like the Colorado Springs Utilities has chosen MWH Soft InfoWater technology to support their enterprise-wide GIS modeling and help them manage their water infrastructure at maximum savings."
