Chicago Adoption Agency Helps Chicago Families Host Ukrainian Orphans for Christmas
Adoption Services Group, a Lisle, Illinois adoption assistance agency, has worked with Frontier Horizon based in Virginia, to bring three Ukrainian orphans here for Christmas. The childresn are being sponsored by Chicago families and range in age from 3-16 years.
(PRWEB) December 28, 2004 -- Little ten year old Anya, an orphan from Ukraine, is playing with playdough in a suburban Chicago kitchen. She is participaing in the Frontier Horizon Travel Program, which allows families to choose an orphan to join them for the Christmas holiday or during vacation time in the summer. Susan Cain, LCSW, Executive Director of Adoption Services Group explains, " We are a Chicago adoption assistance agency and wanted to help families connect with older orphans from Ukraine. Many families go overseas to adopt younger children, but very few are willing to consider an older child."
Cain says that the program is life changing. " Many older children are loving and well adjusted but need a chance to bond with a family. This program allows families to sponser a child in their homes before committing to adoption."
The program is offered through a 501 C3 organization called Frontier Horizon. Dr. Vincent Rosini is the agency's director. Dr. Rosini has completed many humanitarian projects and is concerned about the plight of older orphans overseas. " In the travl program families can see for themselves that adopting an older child is a great thing to do. They bond with these kids." There is a special workshop for parents interested in sponsoring an orphan this summer on Wednesday, December 29 at the Lisle office of Adoption Services Group.
