Hsin Tien, Taiwan (PRWEB) December 29, 2004 -- Power Digital Card (PDC) is starting to see major efficiencies this month after completing its third generation production lines in July 2004. Besides a capacity increase of 30%, PDC experiences major cost down benefits and will start to reflect this to PDCs customers in Q1 of 2005. Plans for further cost reduction up to 40% will continue into Q2 of 2005. This is a major benefit for PDCs customers to remain competitive in the current boom of memory card demands.
With the maturing of 90nanometer, 75nanometer and even 63nanometer processes, PDC is starting plans for its 4th generation production technology. Once into launch, PDC expects to bring costs down another 58.33%. By the year 2005, 512Megabyte memory cards should be able to achieve a retail price of less than US$27.5 while 256Megabyte and 128Megabyte cards become the main stream in bundle and gift markets.
According to PDCs Corporate Speaker, Gen Shueh, 2003 is actually a starting point for memory card products. Until today, memory cards have become a commodity product, thus, price and quality is more important than ever. PDC will utilize its competitive advantage to provide industrial grade products at consumer prices to the market at vast volumes in 2005. Furthermore, quality control of PDC is top ranking and the company has been able to bring down defective products to 136ppm (136pieces of defective products out of 1 million) with 100ppm as target. All products are tested and laser marked for tracking and after sales services."
PDCs Head of Sales Operation, Jium Chen, proclaims, With vast price drops in flash memory prices in short periods of time, we have to do everything to protect our customers. One method is to shorten our production cycle, targeting TAT in less than 5 days with special hot run deliveries within 2 days. PDC has established our market positioning in the industry as a major player in 2003 and 2004. We will continue to launch more memory products other than MMC and SD into the market for 2005, allowing our customers to do one stop shopping at PDC. New product lines will also be made with our patented technologies, making the products 100% water proof, dust proof, shock proof, and high ESD proof. We see a major shift in memory card application from DSC to mobile phone devices and we predict for the mobile phone alone, demand for 2005 will exceed 200mn pieces. PDC has made numerous design wins with mobile phone companies based on our efforts in quality, delivery time, price, capacity, and service. With our 4th generation technology on the way, we will maximize economy of scale and provide better quality products at lower cost to increase volume demand to match that of CDs."
