2005 Sore Thumbs Awards - Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (PS2) awarded Technical Excellence in Graphics
Summary of the 2005 Sore Thumbs Awards to street January 1, 2005
Louisville, KY (PRWEB) December 29, 2004 -- UbiSofts Playstation2 version of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within has been awarded with Technical Excellence in Graphics in the 2005 Sore Thumbs Awards: Featuring fantastic screen-rippling heat and water effects, the PS2 version is miles better than the comparatively ugly X-Box version. The two main locales in the game (the clock tower and the water garden) stand as among the most visually stunning environments ever seen in a game; the clock tower in particular pushes the PS2 beyond what I thought was its graphical limit. Even better are the little touches, like curtains flapping in the wind and dirt trickling off crumbling walls, that make the castle come alive. Best of all, the game is one of a handful of PS2 titles to support progressive scan displays."
Also recognized in the Technical Excellence in Graphics category was the X-Box version of Burnout 3: Takedown (Electronic Arts) and the GameCube version of Alien Hominid (O~3 Entertainment).
Alien Hominid An under-appreciated gem for fans of shmups and animation alike."
Burnout 3: Takedown Only the boring track designs and distracting in-game advertisements prevent this from taking the title." (excerpted from the full text)
