African American Inventors Shine During Black History Month

Invention Submission Corporation and INPEX® - The Invention Show Highlight Some of Their African American Inventors

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) December 30, 2004 -- Americans have been recognizing Black History Month as far back as 1926. This February, Invention Submission Corporation, Americas Leading Inventor Service Company, along with INPEX® - Americas Largest Invention Trade Show would like to highlight some of our African American inventors and entrepreneurs who are trying their hand at inventing.

These inventors share that same entrepreneurial spirit as those who have come before them such as Sarah Boone, who patented an improvement to the ironing board in 1892 and Lonnie Johnson, who more recently developed the Super Soaker®, the first water blaster to incorporate air pressure into its design.

The following is a list of some of our African American Inventors and their inventions:
- Vest-Pack invented by Greg Ware, Columbus, Ohio. Vest Pack" is a combination backpack and reflective vest, designed to make carrying personal belongings while on-the-go more convenient. When worn at night, the vest would make users more visible to motorists.

- Precious Creation invented by April McCray, Miami Lakes, Florida. The Precious Creation" wrap could be used to protect a babys face and body from harsh winds and cold weather. The blanket would also provide storage for diapers, pacifiers, bottles and other baby accessories.

- Cricket Rig invented by James Spriggs Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio. The Cricket Rig" would hold a fishing rod stable in the ground so the user could do other tasks while fishing. An alarm would sound when a fish is on the line, alerting the fisherman if they have caught a fish. According to the inventor, the rod holder may lead to more successful fishing trips.

- Elizabeths Classic Designs invented by Elizabeth Berryman Kent, Richmond, Virginia. A past INPEX® exhibit, Elizabeths Classic Designs are like conventional ottomans with cushioned tops for resting feet. However, with this design the cushion lifts up so the hollow base can be used for storage.
