(PRWEB) December 30, 2004 -- GPG Keysigning parties are a get-together of users for the purpose of meeting other GPG users and signing each other's keys. GPG keys are a form of encryption technology, similar to technologies used in electronic commerce. Keysigning parties extend the "web of trust", which is a form of infrastructure that GPG depends on to work properly. GPG Keysigning parties are events which build infrastructure for GPG communications and encourage the use of GPG. GPG technology can produce digital signatures, preserve individual privacy, and help to protect individuals on the internet from hackers.
The Southern California Linux Expo, Inc is a non-profit organization currently comprised, but not limited to, members of the USCLUG, UCLALUG, and SCLUG. The mission of SCALE is outreach - our goal is to evangelize the advantages of Open Source software. Open Source software is any software that meets the litmus test of the OSI (Open Source Initiative). Examples of OSS are Linux and the various BSD operating systems, and applications such as OpenOffice.org and Mozilla.
