The Squad is appealing for monetary donations of all sizes. All money raised will be presented to the American Red Cross Bergen-Hudson Chapter on behalf of the community. Those funds will be used by the Red Cross to provide food and supplies in the affected areas.
This is a disaster of unprecedented proportion." Says Erik Endress of Ramsey Rescue. In the fall we appealed for the community to help the victims of Hurricane Ivan and we received tremendous support. This tsunami and its aftermath make Ivan look like a passing shower and we all need to do what we can to help these folks."
In the fall of 2004, the Squad mobilized and raised thousands of dollars that was used to aid the victims of Hurricane Ivan, which lashed the Caribbean and Southern United States.
Ramsey Rescue will hold a relief collection drive on Saturday, January 8th, 2005 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at its headquarters on South Island Avenue across from the Ramsey High School. Squad members and volunteers will be on hand to accept monetary donations and recover donations from designated collection points in the community.
The Squad is appealing to local organizations, schools, religious groups, scouting troops and businesses to do what they can to help.
If our great local merchants can simply put a donation can next to their registers for the week to collect change, we will be grateful." Says Endress They can contact us and well pick it up or they can drop it off. Whatever we have to do to raise money to help these victims, were going to get it done. We live in a great community full of great people, I am confident that they are moved by what they are seeing on television and reading in the newspapers and they will respond."
