Device Server - Communication Gateway with Customization Features
The SS400 is a Communication gateway featured with TCP and UDP operation modes, Multicasting, Data logging, PCMCIA slot, Event handling, and Flexible customization support to manage multiple serial devices over the network.
(PRWEB) December 29, 2004 -- The SS400 is a serial to ethernet converter and employs an embedded Linux OS that facilitates user customization using command-line interface or one of several prepared scripts, using UNIX/Linux commands. User can manipulate the raw data stream between remote host and serial device by adding a filtering program. In addition, Software Development Kit (SDK) environment can be used to develop custom applications that run on the SS400.
The SS400 supports TCP/UDP based communication modes, and presents a modem interface to the attached serial device in modem emulation mode. It accepts AT modem commands and makes raw RS-232/422/485 data to travel across a local LAN. In addition, "Multicasting" transmission method sends the same serial data to 32 remote hosts simultaneously.
The SS400 allows user to save serial device log and system log to the internal memory (RAM), a compact-flash card, a syslog server, or to an NFS server. Event handling system instantly monitors and notifies users of serial device errors or failures.
Application Areas
The SS400 provides process control based network connectivity solution to the serial devices such as PLC, Access controller, Metering device, payment terminal, UPS, Sensors, LED display, PBX, and I/O devices.
