Aluminum Christmas Tree Museum Opens to Protect Endangered Species

The world's only museum dedicated to the preservation and public enjoyment of vintage Aluminum Trees opens in Brevard, NC.

Brevard, NC (PRWEB) December 4, 2004 -- In a land known for protecting trees and the environment, a new museum now serves to preserve the legacy of the evergreen's distant cousin... the aluminum Christmas tree. The Aluminum Tree & Aesthetically Challenged Seasonal Ornament Museum and Research Center (ATOM) will display over thirty vintage aluminum trees from the 1950's and 1960's. Numerous color wheels and revolving tree stands from the era will be interspersed with artifacts from the aluminum trees' glory years. The Brevard Museum's Curator, Stephen Jackson, says "I am very pleased that Brevard College's Porter Center will host the display of this unique museum... the public will be able to see rare gold, blue, pink and green colored vintage aluminum trees." In addition to mid-20th century aluminum trees, the Mueseum features thousands of handmade and store-bought aesthetically challenged ornaments. For information and admission prices visit http://aluminumtree.com.

The event is part of a city wide "Merry Main Street" gala, a two weekend event sponsored by The Heart of Brevard. Other activities will include carraige rides, an "elf" school, ice skating, a Mistletoe Market, and a Jingle Bell Jam at the county courthouse lawn. The events cover the weekends of December 4th and 5th, and December 11th and 12th, 2004. At noon on December 4th, the Brevard Christmas Parade will start things off, featuring the Brevard High School Band. Free yuletide carraige rides will be offered to the public through downtown Brevard from 12pm to 5pm that day, with the Jingle Bell Jam Christmas musical program, running from 2pm to 5pm in front of the courthouse. Further information can be obtained at http://brevardnc.org.

In addition to the Aluminum Tree Museum, Brevard, North Carolina is also home to the famous White Squirrel. "We're privliged to be the trusted guardians of so many national treasures." said Margaret Woodard, Executive Director of The Heart of Brevard. Brevard, North Carolina is located 30 minutes south of Asheville, North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
