The Washed Up Jocks of America Are Back...and More Washed Up Than Ever

Gordon Miller started Washed Up Jocks of America (WUJA) for all of the aging ex-jocks who could have made the big-time had they not faced some unforeseen impediment, such as a disapproving parent -- or an utter lack of talent.

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) February 2, 2004 --Ever harbor dreams of quarterbacking the Washington Redskins to a last-second, game-winning drive in the Super Bowl but were saddled with a know-nothing high school coach who failed to see that you were clearly the next Sonny Jurgensen?

Ever aspire to hit the World Series-clinching home run in the seventh game, bottom of the ninth for your beloved Cubbies, only to work out for a myopic scout who couldnt recognize that he was witnessing the second coming of Ernie Banks?

Were you convinced that you could step in where Magic Johnson left off and lead the Lakers to another run of glory years, yet had the misfortune of being born to a stuffy father who constantly tried to steer you towards a career in the banking industry?

Then Washed Up Jocks of America is the club for you.

Gordon Miller started Washed Up Jocks of America (WUJA) for all of the aging ex-jocks who could have made the big-time had they not faced some unforeseen impediment, such as a disapproving parent -- or an utter lack of talent. Originally founded in the mid-80s, the WUJA went dormant 15 years ago -- much like most of its members athletic careers -- but is now back and welcoming new members to join and swap tales of their glory years with fellow members whose wives are also weary of hearing how they caught the winning touchdown pass in the waning moments of the district title game.

As Miller explains, the club is for those who believe that a job is something we are resigned to accept once it becomes apparent our lifelong desire to play professional sports is crushed."

Not a washed-up jock but know someone who is? No problem. Visit the WUJA Web site (http://www.washedupjocks.com) to join this exclusive group (or sign up a washed up jock that you know) and check out their cool merchandise.

The Washed-Up Jocks of America was established in 1984 by Gordon Miller, a former hotshot high school pitcher. Millers life-long calling as a major league hurler came to a screeching halt when a short-sighted coach at Michigan State University failed to recognize his obvious potential, instead focusing on a fastball that peaked in the high 70s. Once Miller became resigned to his fate, he started the WUJA for, as he puts it, not just for those who tried, but for those who tried and failed, miserably."
